Open Sourced: Apt ID!

Aptos Founding Engineer Greg Nazario has just announced something exciting: Apt ID is now open source! You can make feature requests, submit bug reports, or even contribute fixes directly on GitHub. Check it out here: Apt ID GitHub Issues.

Built as a pretty straightforward dApp, Apt ID leverages Create-Aptos-dapp, Next.js, and of course, the Aptos blockchain. It’s a simple yet powerful tool for the community to explore decentralized identity in a fun way.

In Greg’s own words:

“With Apt ID, I wanted to try a little experiment of decision decentralization. I’m going to open source it this week, and then GitHub issues can track requests and features. I’d love your ideas and thoughts, since I’ve heard great feedback about things like UI and features.”

What is Apt ID?

Apt ID is a decentralized app designed for the community to own their identity and add links with an Aptos Name. It’s all about giving users the tools to express themselves in the decentralized world. Want to try it out? Head over to aptid.xyz and create your own Apt ID! The only requirement is having a primary ANS name set up.

Why This Matters

The open-sourcing of Apt ID marks a significant step towards decentralization and community-driven development. By inviting developers to contribute ideas and improvements, Aptos is fostering a collaborative environment that empowers everyone to shape the future of this dApp.

So, whether you’re a developer with feature ideas, a designer with UI suggestions, or just someone curious about decentralized identity, now’s the time to dive in. Let’s build something amazing together!
