Aptos x Chainlink Partnership Developments

Let’s explore the journey so far of Chainlink and its partnership with Aptos ! We’ll start with Chainlink’s history and then dive into the collaboration as of now.

Chainlink was founded in 2017 by Sergey Nazarov and Steve Ellis. The idea stemmed from the need for a secure way to connect smart contracts with real-world data.

Chainlink’s decentralized oracle network launched on mainnet in 2019, quickly becoming a crucial component of the blockchain ecosystem.

By 2023, Chainlink had achieved impressive milestones:

-$6.9+ trillion in Transaction Value Enabled
-5.8+ billion data points delivered on-chain
-1,600+ projects in the ecosystem

Now, let’s shift focus to the Aptos partnership. It all began in May 2024 when Aptos joined the Chainlink SCALE program.

The Chainlink SCALE program aims to accelerate the growth of blockchain ecosystems by providing increased access to Chainlink’s web3 services. As part of this collaboration, Chainlink’s Data Feeds and Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) were set to be integrated on Aptos.

This integration marked a significant milestone as it would be the first implementation of Chainlink CCIP and Data Feeds on a Move-based network like Aptos. The partnership aimed to equip Aptos ecosystem builders with mission-critical tools and industry-leading data for building feature-rich dApps.

Fast forward to January 9, 2025, when Aptos announced the integration of Chainlink Data Feeds.

This integration enables developers on Aptos to access trusted off-chain data for building decentralized applications, enhancing the scalability and security of Aptos-based apps.

The adoption of Chainlink’s standard brings several key features to Aptos, including:

-High-quality data delivery
-Decentralized infrastructure
-Real-time transparency

Thodoris Karakostas, Head of Blockchain Partnerships at Chainlink Labs, expressed excitement about the integration, stating:

We are excited that Aptos has adopted the Chainlink standard. Chainlink Data Feeds will greatly enhance the reliability of applications built on the network, and we look forward to seeing the innovative ways developers leverage it.

Bashar Lazar, Head of Grants and Ecosystem at Aptos Foundation, stated:

The Chainlink standard enables developers to access high-quality, tamper-proof data, which is vital for building secure applications,”… “This aligns with our vision for a scalable and secure Web3 ecosystem.”

This partnership is set to empower Aptos developers with low-cost, secure Chainlink Web3 services, expanding their toolkit for building scalable and secure applications in both EVM and non-EVM environments.

As Aptos adopts the Chainlink standard for verifiable data, we can expect to see innovative developments in the Aptos ecosystem, further advancing the world of Web3 and decentralized applications.
