Aptos is officially transitioning from the legacy Coin standard to the newer Fungible Asset (FA) standard, starting June 30, 2025. This upgrade is fully automated and requires no action from users.
Key Dates:
- June 20, 2025 – All new accounts will default to FA.
- June 18–22, 2025 – Migration of alt-coins begins.
- June 30, 2025 – APT token automatically migrates to FA.
Why It Matters:
- Unified FA standard simplifies token handling across wallets, DeFi, and exchanges.
- Better performance, safer storage, and future-proof architecture.
- Old Coin API will still work (in maintenance mode) and proxy to FA.
What You Need to Do:
- Users: Nothing. All balances migrate seamlessly.
- Wallets / Exchanges: Most are already FA-ready.
- Devs: Legacy code still works, but use FA for new projects.
Gas costs are covered, and real-time monitoring is in place. This change brings a cleaner, faster, and more scalable Aptos for everyone.
